Product Engineering

We specialize in the engineering design & 3D CAD development of consumer products. Engineering Simulation & Analysis


Engineering simulation involves using CAE software and calculations to simulate a product’s performance in a virtual enviroment. With the use of engineering simulation we can analyse and improve a design before ever making a physical prototype. Though physical prototype development is important, the use of engineering simulation cuts down the number of prototyping cycles and makes the whole proces efficient, thus reducing your time to market. For consumer products, we usally use dynamic simulations to predict the behavior of moving parts and mechanisms. Structural simulations to optimize for part strength and structural integrity. Thermal simulation is useful in designing optimial heat dissipation channels for product enclosures containing electrical and electronic parts.


Design for Manufacturing

Getting from an idea to working prototype is only half the battle, getting parts manufactured with consist quality at scale has its own set of challenges. It is very important that parts are designed keeping in mind the constraints of specific manufacturing processes. Not doing so can result in part defects, high scrap rates, inconsistent or poor quality, parts that don’t fit together and other problems, all ultimately leading to increased manufacturing costs and delays. We therefore incorporate high-level DFM considerations early on in our industrial design process itself so that products don’t have to undergo complete redesign or manufacturing issues down the line. A more thorough DFM assessment is done during engineering development.

Plastic Part Design

A large number of consumer goods, especially consumer electronics involve the use of plastics for the electronics enclosure. Plastics are a unique material type in how they behave, they display both viscous and elastic characteristics and are therefore called viscoelastic. There are thousands of commercial plastic resins that are made from a combination of different compounds and it is nearly impossible for manufacturers to test and document the properties of each. Therefore, the designer’s experience of working with plastics and knowledge of manufacturing processes play a large role in designing plastic parts that work as intended and are manufactured without defects. We specialize in designing plastic parts for both low volume manufacturing processes (like 3D Printing, Silicone Molding etc) and high volume processes (like injection molding, blow molding etc)
